Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa Yoga: The class begins with self-connection—spending the first few minutes feeling your body and your breath, and calm the busy mind. Next, there is a warm-up guided by the breath, where each movement is paired with an inhale or exhale. We bring our awareness to the rhythm of the breath and allow the mind to rest. Feeling your body and the sensations in each posture helps cultivate a focus on the present moment, where there is no anxiety—everything simply is as it is.

As the class progresses, we begin to feel the heat generated in the body through sequences of asanas (asana = yoga postures). These practices include postures requiring side-body elongation, forward folds, backbends, chest openers, balancing poses, strength-building poses, hip openers, twists, and inversions.

About 20 minutes before the class ends, we transition to final poses, which include a heart/chest opener, counterbalancing poses, an inversion, another counterbalance, and finally Shavasana (Shavasana = corpse pose), where we lay on our backs for about 10 minutes.

Pranayama (pranayama = breath work) and meditation are offered either at the beginning or the end of the class. We close with a special moment of connection by uniting our voices to chant the mantra OM. A sharing of yoga philosophy is included in every class, enriching the practice and offering insights beyond the physical postures.

Benefits of this practice: Physical and mental health benefits include improved blood flow and oxygenation in the body, the stretching and strengthening of muscles, the release of toxins through sweat, the stimulation of the digestive system, and the lubrication of joints. A meditative mind during practice cultivates inner peace, softens preconstructed ideas, and opens the door to new pathways. It inspires curiosity about ourselves—how we react in challenging postures or difficult moments in life—encouraging self-study, personal growth, and the practice of compassion and self-love.

Yin Yoga

The class begins with a moment of self-connection. The first few minutes are dedicated to feeling your body, connecting with your breath, and calming the busy mind. A relaxing meditation is offered to release tension in the body, mind, and heart, while softening layers of fear and anxiety that may hinder full presence. The pace of this class is slow, embracing the qualities of compassion and acceptance that define a Yin practice.

In Yin Yoga, postures are held for 3 to 7 minutes, unlike a Vinyasa class where the focus is on stretching and strengthening muscles. Instead, Yin Yoga targets the deepest tissues of the body—connective tissues such as ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia networks. The longer holds in each posture allow these tissues to be stretched and nurtured effectively.

Fifteen minutes before the class ends, we transition into Shavasana (Shavasana = corpse pose). A guided meditation is offered to deepen relaxation, followed by 10 minutes of Shavasana to close the practice.

Benefits of this practice: Physical and mental health benefits include improved circulation, enhanced flexibility, and deeper relaxation. The practice supports joint mobility, releases fascia, and uses the breath as a guide to relax both the body and mind. A meditative state during practice cultivates inner peace, softens preconstructed ideas, and opens the door to new pathways. It encourages curiosity about oneself—how we react in challenging postures or moments in life—fostering self-study, personal growth, and the practice of compassion and love toward ourselves and others.

Bianca's Yoga Journey
Bio

Hi, I’m Bianca

I am a yoga teacher and lifelong student, dedicated to the exploration of self-discovery and well-being. Yoga became a part of my life in 2011 when I began practicing Hatha Yoga in my hometown of Campinas, Brazil. Initially drawn to the beauty of movement, postures, and the promise of calmness, I soon discovered that yoga offers so much more. Under the guidance of inspiring teachers, I explored the transformative power of asanas, breathwork, meditation, self-connection, and yoga philosophy, deepening my appreciation for this practice.

As all transforms, so did my yoga journey. In 2018, I embarked on my first yoga teacher training—a profoundly transformative experience that inspired significant changes in my life. This journey led me to move from Brazil to Santa Cruz, California, to pursue advanced studies in yoga and dedicate myself to sharing this practice with others.

My teaching reflects the values I hold close:

  • Love and Self-Love as the foundation for all growth.

  • Honoring each person’s unique journey, respecting their body, time, breath, and state of mind.

  • Using asana and breath to cultivate a calm, quiet connection within.

  • Guiding deep relaxation through Shavasana and meditation, unlocking creativity, insights, and inspiration.

Each class is designed to create a space where students can fully experience the present moment.

I believe yoga extends beyond the classroom—it’s a tool for navigating life’s waves, whether big or small, stormy or serene. It’s about recalling sensations from practice and integrating them into daily life, embodying the principles and understanding yoga philosophy. Yoga has taught me to embrace challenges with ease, find peace amidst chaos, and nurture gratitude for life’s endless possibilities.

I invite you to join me on this journey.
